Bonne Bay In Flower is the first print I've made combining B&W photos with flowers. The style, which I developed for my Wild! Flowers! project, involves layering several different photographs to produce the final artwork. The scene location is beautiful Bonne Bay Newfoundland, Canada. The image started life as a 4 * 5 inch Poloroid black and white photograph which I shot there during a tour of the island in 1978. The photo was then scanned and then I used that as a guide to draw the image in a program called Inkscape. Once I had the B&W drawing I coloured it and added the photos of the flowers. If you like this one, you may enjoy the other floral work in the Store and the Gallery.

I'm Kent Barrett and this is my art. There are slide shows of my photographs in the Art Gallery if you care to have a look or you can check out the Art Bits blog for my latest arts news reports.
Contemporary Art Prints are available for purchase in the Art Store so remember: Someone you love, loves art!
The image on this page is made with a new technique I'm working on. It came out of a series of photographs I've been thinking about doing for quite some time now: impressionistic floral prints using photos of flowers that grow around the city (St. John's Newfoundland).
